What changes the price of a fence?

Length and height are the starting point. Removal, slope, footing requirements, access and gates can change the total. Ask for a written quote that lists these separately.

Can I get a price per metre?

A per-metre estimate is useful only when the inclusions are clear. A site measure and a written scope are needed before you can compare the total cost.

Are quotes free?

Yes. Request a free quote and tell us about your fence, suburb and approximate length.

Do you remove the old fence?

Yes. We can arrange old-fence removal as part of your fencing project. Include removal and disposal in the scope so they are accounted for in your quote.

Can a fence include a gate?

Yes. Gates can be included in your fencing project. Tell us how many openings you need and their approximate widths.

What is lap-and-cap fencing?

It is a timber fence with overlapping palings and a capping rail along the top. Ask the installer to specify the timber, treatment, posts and finish in the quote.

How do I choose between steel and timber?

Start with the appearance you want, the surrounding fences and the upkeep you are prepared to do. Compare the complete fence system and site requirements, rather than a panel price alone.

What height can my fence be?

Ask the installer to check the proposed height against the rules for your property. Boundary position, road frontage and pool barriers can need different checks. Do not assume one height suits every site.

Who pays for a shared boundary fence?

In Queensland, neighbours usually contribute equally to a sufficient dividing fence. Extra work beyond that can be paid by the neighbour who wants it. Discuss the scope and cost before work starts and check the Queensland Government guidance linked below.

How long does installation take?

The installer needs to confirm timing after assessing the fence length, access, removal and site conditions. No installation date is promised by submitting an enquiry.

Can a fence be built on a slope?

A site assessment is needed to decide the fence alignment and whether the panels should step. Include a photo looking along the fence line and mention changes in ground level.

What photos should I send?

A view along the fence line, a view of access and a close-up of the existing fence help explain the job. Avoid including faces, number plates or private documents.

Do I need an exact fence length?

An approximate length is enough for the first enquiry. Mark it as approximate. The final dimensions need to be measured before the installer confirms the quote.

Can the fence be attached to a retaining wall?

The fence and wall need to be considered together. Tell the installer about any existing wall and ask who will assess the support and connections.

Will I receive a written quote?

Ask the responding installer for a written scope, total price, exclusions and payment terms before agreeing to the work. An enquiry is not a booking or a construction contract.

Can I request Colorbond® steel?

Yes. Specify fencing made from Colorbond® steel in your enquiry and ask the installer to confirm the material and fencing system in writing. The brand is used here as a product name.

Where are enquiries starting?

Ipswich is the first launch market. South East Queensland locations are being prepared. Exact suburb coverage and installer availability must be confirmed for each enquiry.

Can I request timber to match an existing fence?

Send a clear photo and describe the parts you want to match, including the capping, posts and finish. The installer needs to confirm available materials.

What if my neighbour has not agreed?

Discuss the proposal before starting work. A fence enquiry does not resolve ownership or cost-sharing disputes. Use the Queensland Government dividing-fence guidance for the appropriate next step.

Can I replace a gate with my fence?

Yes. Include the existing gate and opening in your enquiry so the replacement can be included in your quote.

Who carries out the installation?

Independent local installers carry out the work. Confirm the responding business, relevant credentials, insurance and contract terms before engaging them.

Can I send a quote request without photos?

Yes. Photos are optional. Your suburb, phone number, preferred fence type and approximate length are enough to start describing the project.
